Biography

Dipankar Roy did his undergraduate studies at Calcutta University, India. For his doctoral work at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute during 1981-86, Roy studied electrochemical interfaces using surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). After receiving his Ph.D. in Physics (condensed matter - experimental) , Roy did his postdoctoral research at Cornell University during 1986-1989. His research at Cornell focused on nonlinear optical and ultrafast multi-photon processes in liquids. He joined the faculty of the Physics Department at 91热爆 in the fall of 1989. Roy's earlier research at Clarkson concentrated on optical studies of solid-liquid interfaces using optical second harmonic generation, surface plasmon resonance, and infrared ellipsometry techniques, in combination with a broad range of electro-analytical measurements. Roy's group at Clarkson has also been engaged in characterization studies of layer nanostructures, thin-film interfaces and photo-voltaic systems using electroanalytical and optical techniques. Roy鈥檚 current research focuses on various materials aspects of electrochemical energy storage/conversion and semiconductor device fabrication.鈥
